From the Desk of Superintendent Ken Emmil:
"Colville School District in alignment with Washington State has
adopted standards-based learning goals. Standards clarify what a student
minimally "must know or be able to do" in any subject area at
any grade level. Learning standards not only clarify for students, teachers,
and parents what learning is expected, learning standards become the basis
of identifying what has been learned, what is partially learned at this
time, and what is yet to be learned. Students who are clear about what it
is they are to learn can be partners in monitoring and taking responsibility
for their own learning. To view the learning standards/goals follow the
steps below."
HOW DO I FIND STATE LEARNING GOALS/STANDARDS?
The learning standards are embedded within the Essential Academic
Learning Requirements (EALRs) .
- Go to http://www.k12.wa.us
- Under the pull down tabs go to Teaching & Learning
- Pull down to the desired content area such as Reading
- Select the pull down tab on the left hand side of the screen and open
GLEs (Grade Level Expectations)
- Scroll down until you come to a specific grade level e.g. grade 5
- Look under EALRs 1, 2 3, or 4 to find the EALR component or GLE and view
the learning targets - "what students need to know and be able
to do".
Learning goals are posted for Reading, Writing, Communication, mathematics,
Science, History/SS, the Arts, Health & Fitness.
