A hungry child cannot learn. Every Food Service staff member in each of our schools supports the educational process by taking on the responsibility of providing quality, nutritious, and attractive meals. Meals are available to all. The breakfasts and lunches served in all schools meet the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. These guidelines include calories per meal, levels of fat and saturated fat, and the contribution of important vitamins and minerals like Vitamin A and C, iron and calcium. These guidelines are age or grade appropriate for proper growth. Breakfast and lunch are offered at all of our schools.
The lunches offer an entree and milk and will include two or more the following; canned or fresh vegetables, canned or fresh fruit, salad, and bread.
Our Food Service Staff participates in OSPI training on Child Nutrition and
Healthy Meal Preparation. They then share the importance of a healthy diet and eating a variety of foods with their customers.
If you have questions or comments on the Food Service program, please contact the Food Service staff in your school or the Food Service Supervisor at 509-684-7824.
