Hello,

I have lived, worked, and raised my family in Colville for the past 23 years. I believe my knowledge of the Colville School District and the Colville community to be somewhat unique due to the fact that I’ve been a teacher in Colville for 7th through 12th grade students.  I’ve coached multiple sports in Colville from the little league to the varsity level.  I have been both an elementary level principal and a Junior High/High School level principal in Colville School District, and recently (past 7 years), I have been the Superintendent for Colville Schools.

Born and raised on the "west-side" (Snohomish), my wife and I fell in love with this community and area and decided to raise our kids here. We have no regrets.

My vision for this school district is idea that whatever we feel is important enough to pursue, is important enough for us to be the best at. That being said, I believe that cooperation rather than competition is the best way to accomplish that goal. I want our students to gain two things from their involvement in CSD;

 "Personal Ownership" is the key to success. As adults, we must own every aspect of our lives. As educators, we must help our students to understand the power they have in their lives if they will take ownership of their learning and decision making. Every time we/they/you point fingers elsewhere, or find excuses, power is lost and given over to something outside our control. If there is one thing that I/we can give to our children, it is power in their own lives. Gaining ground by tearing others down is not the way to success.

 I want every student from Colville School District to leave us with the strong commitment that they will; “Share first place with anyone who is sharing the same goals, but to never….ever….accept second place.”

Sincerely,

Dr. Ken Emmil
Superintendent
