Heat and Air Quality Update
Smoke and heat have come out to greet the students on the first day of school. Colville School District will follow all of the guidelines for air quality set up by North East Tri-County Health(NETCH) regarding athletics and recess. To do this, we rely on Purple Air Sensors that are in place around our community. You can learn more about Purple Air by searching for it on Google. There is a Purple Air sensor located on the HS Building. One hundred and fifty is the magic number for allowing outdoor activities. We are also working with NETCH, who will provide four large air purifiers for Fort Colville and Hofstetter Elementary Schools (2 each). To fight the heat, the High School and the Junior High School have air conditioning. The Fort Colville and Hofstetter do not and are opened up early, and fans are used to try and slow down the heat. Both of those buildings do get hot. We will continue to look for grants and other funding options to improve the air flow and air conditioning in those buildings.
